Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believe that children should be influenced by their parents or guardians to participate in grouped activities in their leisure time while others argue that children should learn how to play or engage themselves independently. From my perspective, playing in the teams or groups would help children to learn skills from their fellows whereas, playing alone helps to identify hidden talents and abilities to perform any tasks. However, group play is far more beneficial as it helps children to learn through play, foster problem solving and communication skills.

In this contemporary era, children tends to spend their leisure time online by playing video games and watching movies.Parents should encourage them to play group activities which would be helpful to learn problem solving, patience and communication skills. For example, A team activity which may involve abstract thinking or puzzle solving would introduce trial and error method and eventually they would learn to solve it together after several attempts, as they have to respect others opinions and suggestion this would help them to learn patience while working in a team.

On the other side, playing alone and engaging oneself is quite challenging as some children gets bore and without any effort they prefer to use mobile phone or laptop instead of doing something productive. However, in some cases children play their favourite musical instrument as their hobby which make them to focus on the beats without any distraction and gradually they get command on their own which boosts their confidence. Furthermore, ocuuping alone helps one to identify hidden talents and sometime children made creative thing out of scratch which consequently, create a sense of independence and they continue to create and perform better in other tasks independently.

From my viewpoint, group play would be better option as there are less risk of boredom and children learn various skills from their peers and surroundings. These skills are cruicial in practical life as they have to work in a company or run a business which requires these kill for the company to progress.

To conclude, while playing alone foster a sense of independence and confidence, playing as a group helps to learn practical skills which are necessary for progress in the professional life. Parents should encourage their children to play with fellows to learn more

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a consistent preference for group activities, especially in the opening and concluding paragraphs. The discussion of group play is supported with a relevant example of children solving a puzzle together and learning patience and communication. You also explain how solitary hobbies, such as practising a musical instrument, can build focus and confidence. This covers the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits of independent activity receive less explanation, and the final claim about skills needed in professional life is broad rather than supported with a specific link or example. To strengthen the response, explain more fully when independent play is valuable and develop the comparison behind your preference.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. The progression is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other side,” “From my viewpoint,” and “To conclude” help readers track the argument. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening moves quickly from the two positions to several benefits without clearly distinguishing your main reason, while “However” in the paragraph about independent play introduces a contrast that is not fully explained. The final paragraph also repeats the preference already stated. Use linking phrases more selectively and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “problem solving,” “communication skills,” “hidden talents,” “independence,” and “confidence.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and phrases such as “trial and error” show an attempt to use more specific language. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “grouped activities,” “get command on their own,” and “made creative thing out of scratch.” There are also spelling errors such as “ocuuping,” “cruicial,” and “kill,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “organised group activities,” “gain proficiency through practice,” and “create something from scratch.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “while,” “as,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. For example, “children tends” should be “children tend,” “some children gets bore” needs “some children get bored,” and “playing alone foster” should be “playing alone fosters.” The long sentence beginning “For example, A team activity” also needs clearer punctuation and control of its clauses. These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they limit accuracy. Review subject–verb agreement and article use, and divide long sentences when several ideas are joined.
