Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, it is growing debate how should children spend their free time. Some believe that it is a good for young ones to participate in group activities. On the other hand, Many think that it is crutial for them to spend it alone for personal growth. In my perspective, there should be balance between whether childrens spend their time to take part in group activities and solo plays.
On the one had, Organised group activities provide excellent opportunities for childrens to build social skills and learn to work in teamwork. It help to learn them how to cooperate with others, follow rules, respects their leaders, how to coordinate with others players and make new friends. Additionaly, these activities help them to understand other and resolve conflict with their peers. for instance, In a football team a player work with other and try to win as a team rathe than focusing on own game. it also prepare them for future where working in company collaboration is essential.
On the other hand, ability ot working alone is also important to become independent and for creativity. Nowdays, most of children spend all their time on screen and seek guidance from someone for almost everything. If they will get some free time for themselve they are forced to use their imagination to overcome their borrdom. For example, a child can spent his afternoon doing drawing and building block to make something. this will help him to boost his cretivity and become independent.
In the conclusion, I believe that groups activities like a sport game, music classes and outdoor activities play vital role in children life which help them to learn basic skills and also prepare them for future. while s activities help them to become independent and boost creativity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear overall position: children benefit from group activities as well as time alone. The discussion of organised activities is supported with relevant points about cooperation, rules, friendship and resolving conflict, and the football example makes the benefits concrete. You also explain how independent play can encourage imagination, using drawing and building blocks as an example. This covers the task well, though the balance is not fully developed: the conclusion mainly restates the value of group activities, and the final phrase about solo activities is incomplete. To strengthen the response, explain more explicitly how parents should balance the two kinds of free time and develop the personal opinion consistently in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the comparison, while examples are placed alongside the relevant ideas. This gives the essay a coherent progression. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, and sentence boundaries and capitalization sometimes interrupt the flow—for example, “for instance, In a football team” and the abrupt “while s activities” in the conclusion. The opening also presents the position as a balance without explaining how that balance works. Use clearer references between ideas and make the conclusion a complete, connected summary of both sides and your view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “social skills,” “cooperate,” “resolve conflict,” “independent” and “creativity.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts to use more specific language such as “follow rules” and “collaboration.” However, errors in spelling, word forms and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “crutial,” “borrdom,” “cretivity,” “work in teamwork” and “seek guidance from someone for almost everything.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “solo plays” and “activities help them to understand other.” Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and forms; for example, use “teamwork,” “boredom,” and “understand others’ perspectives.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional phrasing (“If they will get some free time…”) and clauses explaining results. The main ideas remain understandable, but control is inconsistent: errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, plurals and sentence construction recur. Examples include “It help to learn them,” “a player work,” and “it also prepare them”; the conditional would be more accurate as “If they get some free time, they are forced…” The conclusion also contains an incomplete construction, “while s activities help them…,” and punctuation and capitalization are uneven. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, then review articles and plural forms. More accurate complex sentences would make your ideas easier to follow.
