Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is significantly under-length at 111 words. While you have attempted to address all three bullet points—describing complaints, explaining the importance of the reception, and suggesting improvements—the development is insufficient. The final paragraph is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a full resolution of the task. To improve, you must expand on your ideas with more detail and ensure the letter is completed in full. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, but the lack of length and the unfinished nature of the text significantly impact the overall achievement of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In regard to' and 'Hence', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that feels slightly mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between the emails and the photographs could be more explicitly linked. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your ideas flow logically to a complete conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'bad reviews' (better: 'negative feedback'), 'serious bad comments' (better: 'critical comments'), and 'hygene' (spelling error). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to express more complex ideas with natural phrasing. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and proofread carefully to avoid spelling mistakes. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you convey your points more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Several visitors has posted', 'department should be notify'), incorrect article usage, and incomplete sentence structures. The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or slightly flawed complex sentences. The abrupt ending of the letter also leaves a sentence grammatically incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences have a clear subject, verb, and object. Reviewing your work for basic punctuation and sentence completion is essential.
