Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I Rutik Patel writing this letter to express my opinion about the reception area management and how to improve it.
First of all, we have received many complaints from our visitors about the reception area management and the cleanliness of the area. The staff of the reception have no sense of dress code and and they also not have enough training about how to deal with the clients. There way of talk and expression is not good. This complaints were made by our regular and important client Mr. Bhatia. He did not got proper welcome at the reception and got disspointed.
Furthermore, the reception area is the first area where all the visitors and clients come and inquire about the company. The way reception area work which give an idea about how our company run and how our system works. This made good impression on clients and visitors opinion about our company.
Therefore, we should provide training for our reception staff on client handling, way of presentation, proper dress code. Which definietly improve our company's image in market.
I hope you would take a steps on improvements in reception area management.
I hope you appriciate my suggestions for it.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
Rutik Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing complaints, explaining the importance of the reception area, and suggesting improvements. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention that the staff lack training and dress code, the explanation of why the reception is important is a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that your suggestions are more detailed and that the link between the complaints and the proposed solutions is more explicitly articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Furthermore', and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and there are occasional issues with referencing, such as in the sentence 'This complaints were made...', where the pronoun usage is slightly awkward. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant business-related terms like 'reception area management', 'clients', and 'company's image'. However, there are several word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'disspointed' (disappointed), 'definietly' (definitely), and 'appriciate' (appreciate). Additionally, phrases like 'way of talk' and 'not have enough training' are slightly unnatural. Focusing on more precise collocations and checking your spelling will help you move into a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'I Rutik Patel writing this letter', 'they also not have', 'This made good impression'). There are also issues with verb tenses, such as 'He did not got proper welcome'. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. To improve, pay closer attention to auxiliary verbs and basic sentence construction.
