Dear Manager,

I hope you are doing well.

I am writing this email to complaint about the reception area where visitors arrive. There are different ways how to solve this problem.

Firstly, I would like to mention that reception area is always messy and also there is no proper cleaning which is not good. The reception area is primary area of building which enhance the visitor of tourist.

Furthermore, the reception area is very essential as visitors can feel relaxed and refreshed. Apart from this, if reception area is neat and clean, it attracts the tourists.

Lastly, reception area should be clean all the time. we can renovate area with modern and traditional furniture, add new technology, change the front layout I hope you will solve this issue as soon as possible. I would really appreciate if you take actions.

I look forward to a positive response from your side.

Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing complaints, explaining the importance of the reception area, and suggesting improvements. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the complaints is brief, and the suggestions for improvement are listed in a single sentence without much elaboration. While the tone is appropriate for a letter to a manager, the response lacks the depth required for a higher band score. To improve, you should provide more specific details about the nature of the complaints and explain the proposed improvements in greater detail to fully develop your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'Lastly' to link your points. However, the paragraphing is slightly disjointed, and some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The connection between sentences could be smoother; for example, the jump from the importance of the reception area to the suggestions for improvement is abrupt. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and basic. You use words like 'reception area' and 'clean' multiple times, which limits the variety of your expression. There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'enhance the visitor of tourist' and 'complaint' (used as a verb instead of 'complain'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate a wider range of vocabulary related to office management and professional communication, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations to ensure your language sounds more natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the' reception area), subject-verb agreement issues ('reception area is primary area'), and punctuation errors. For example, 'we can renovate area' should be 'we can renovate the area'. These errors occur frequently enough to be noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of articles and prepositions, and try to incorporate more varied complex structures with greater accuracy.
