Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to share some important and valuable innovations for your reception area which could bring more visitors and customers to our company. The first and formost thing is to improve structure and designing of reception area because we received ample of complaints regarding structure and the space of reception area. Visitors are struggaling whith the service which is provided by reception and receptionest. These is only one employee available at a time which keeps them waited for a long time. Furthermore, there are very congested space of waithing area near reception.
In solution, I would like to suggest that the reception area should be a bit broad with the space for two or three receptioniest, which also includes fully technological system with branded Monitors. All staff shoud be in office attire and have to greet all customers nicely. Moreove, the waiting area should be much bigger so visitors can wait on comfortable sofa. The coffee machine or vending machine would be the great choice if we would kept them near reception area.
The reception are is the face of our company and every one should take care of their face, and if the face is attrective, people would like to reach out and apporch the person or company.
Yours Faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the complaints, explaining the importance of the reception area, and suggesting improvements. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the reception area is the 'face of the company,' this point could be expanded further to explain how it impacts client retention or brand reputation. The suggestions are relevant, but the explanation of why these specific changes would solve the complaints could be more detailed to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7 or higher.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore,' 'In solution,' and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and minor errors in sentence structure. The transition between the complaints and the proposed solutions is clear, but the overall progression could be smoother if you used a wider variety of linking words and ensured that the relationship between sentences is more explicitly stated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'innovations,' 'congested,' and 'attire.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and spelling errors, such as 'formost' (foremost), 'struggaling' (struggling), 'whith' (with), 'receptionest' (receptionist), and 'apporch' (approach). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common professional terms and using more precise collocations to convey your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('These is only one employee,' 'The coffee machine... would be the great choice if we would kept them') and article usage ('improve structure and designing of reception area'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. Focusing on consistent verb tense usage and the correct application of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
