You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear ................. ,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

In line with my previous complaints about the reception lobby of the store, pointing that there is need for expansion of the seating area to accommodate more guest.

This area of the store is very important as it serves as the first point of contact for every potential customer that walks into the store, so in view of that there is a need that it is made to fit the image of a modern standard lobby in line with the International consumers protection right organization.

I humbly suggest that firstly the walls should be branded and repainted to a more attractive color in line with the adopted company's color code. Secondly an additional role of seats should be made available to accommodate more guests waiting to be attended to.

In conclusion, if these changes are put in place, I strongly believe that it will improve the quality of attention being given to our quest and as well reflects on the seals turn over.

I humbly look for forward to your reply and attention to these issues and possible resolutions.

Yours Faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing complaints, explaining the importance of the reception, and suggesting improvements. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of the 'International consumers protection right organization' is a bit vague and not fully integrated into the argument. While the response covers the requirements, it could be improved by providing more specific details about the nature of the complaints beyond just the need for more seating, which would add depth to the task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. The use of cohesive devices such as 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'in conclusion' helps guide the reader through the text. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the opening sentence is a sentence fragment ('pointing that there is need...'), which disrupts the flow. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression could be smoother if the sentences were linked with more varied cohesive devices rather than relying on simple list markers.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'seals turn over' (likely meaning 'sales turnover') and 'quest' (likely meaning 'guests'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise business-related terminology and ensuring correct spelling of key terms to avoid confusion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, the first paragraph is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. There are also issues with article usage ('the need for expansion') and prepositional phrases. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the writing from being considered highly accurate. Increasing the variety of complex structures while focusing on subject-verb agreement would improve the score.
