Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir,
I am writing this letter on dissatifaction visitors having while they visit our business for the first time to get information and my personal opinion to improve overall
Firstly, I personally talked with few visitors near to reception area while they look so confused whom to discuss about the information they are willing to get. One individual waiting for assistance to deliver the package but he had to wait at the reception for someone to get assistance, whereas, another individual told me that he had wait for half hour at the reception for someone to arrive at the desk, I figured out that receptionist was on break.
I strongly believe that day by day with our company's growth, the number of visitors are increasing dramatically and the information desk is the only place, where visitor has to interact about the reason of their visit. So, company should increase workforce at the reception from one person to atleast 3, therefore, when one person is busy doing something and not available at the desk another person can help all the visitors. Moreover, at the entry way, we can place one big box marking as shipping and receiving for the delivery person and therefore they don't need to come inside and making it more busy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task well. You successfully described the complaints made by visitors regarding confusion and long waiting times due to the receptionist being on break. You also explained why the reception area is important by highlighting the company's growth and the fact that it is the primary interaction point for visitors. Furthermore, you provided clear suggestions for improvement, such as increasing the workforce to at least three people and adding a designated box for deliveries. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a manager. Ideas are relevant and fully developed, meeting the requirements of a General Training Task 1 response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear logical organisation and progression. The response is divided into logical paragraphs, starting with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs detailing the complaints and suggestions, and ending with an appropriate sign-off. You make use of cohesive devices to connect your ideas, such as 'Firstly', 'whereas', and 'Moreover'. However, there are minor issues with referencing and sentence flow, particularly in the opening sentence and the transition between sentences in the second paragraph, which prevents the score from reaching a higher band. Overall, the paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message effectively. You attempt some less common items and workplace-related terminology, such as 'dramatically', 'assistance', and 'interaction'. However, there are several word choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'dissatifaction visitors having' instead of 'dissatisfaction experienced by visitors', and spelling mistakes like 'dissatifaction'. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect a Band 6 level where vocabulary control is sufficient but contains inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms in your response. There are attempts at longer, multi-clause sentences, such as 'So, company should increase workforce at the reception from one person to atleast 3, therefore, when one person is busy doing something and not available at the desk another person can help all the visitors.' However, this sentence contains a comma splice and structural awkwardness. Other grammatical errors include missing articles ('the company's growth', 'at least') and tense inconsistencies. These errors occasionally distract the reader, placing your grammar control firmly at Band 6.
