Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Manager, Good Morning!
I hope this email finds you well.
My name is Ravneet Kaur, I am working in your company as a junior Analyst. I wanted to let you know that there are many complaints coming about the receptionist behaviour with the customers that are visiting our Company. Moreover, As the complaints rising it affects our company's image in the Market. I was being told by lot of the visitors that they were not treated well whenever they have any query or need any kind of help.About that matter, I was thinking that we have to take strict actions regarding this.
First of all we have to change the structure of the services that are being provided, We have to make new rules and regulations about the visiting part.
In Addition to it, I think we have to priortize customers Because in Business, It is a Myth that, " Customer is a God to Employer". So, we have to serve them wisely and treated them with respect.
Thank you
Ravneet Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. The student describes the complaints made regarding the receptionist's behavior ('there are many complaints coming about the receptionist behavior'), highlights why the area and receptionists are important ('it affects our company's image in the Market'), and offers suggestions for improvement ('we have to change the structure of the services', 'make new rules and regulations'). However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and informal in places, such as the philosophical comment regarding customers. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0, as all parts are addressed, but some ideas remain under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter opens with informal greetings ('Good Morning!') that are more typical of an email or chat message than a standard professional letter, though the sign-off is appropriate. Paragraphing is weak, with a large block of text forming the second half of the letter that groups multiple different points together without clear separation. Cohesive devices are used, but sometimes mechanically or awkwardly, such as 'About that matter' or 'In Addition to it'. Overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, but logical progression and paragraph structuring need considerable improvement, fitting a Band 5.5 to 6.0 profile. A score of 6.0 is appropriate given that the overall message remains clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their basic points. However, there are noticeable limitations and word choice errors, such as 'complaints coming about', 'receptionist behaviour' (missing possessive apostrophe), and 'priortize customers'. The attempt to use less common phrasing like 'strict actions' and 'structure of the services' is evident, but the collocation and precision are occasionally awkward, such as the strange statement regarding 'Customer is a God to Employer'. These errors do not heavily impede communication, placing the Lexical Resource at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The text displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I wanted to let you know that there are many complaints coming about...'. There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the response, including capitalization errors ('Market', 'Addition', 'Business'), missing apostrophes ('company's image' is correct, but 'receptionist behaviour' lacks a possessive), and tense issues like 'I was being told by lot of the visitors'. Additionally, comma splices occur, such as 'First of all we have to change the structure of the services that are being provided, We have to make new rules...'. These errors occur frequently but rarely impede overall understanding, pointing clearly to a Band 5.5 or 6.0; a Band 6.0 is awarded as meaning is successfully conveyed.
