Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response addresses the task only partially and falls well short of the minimum word length requirement of 150 words, containing only 86 words. While you attempt to mention complaints regarding the management and staff at the front desk, and touch briefly on why the reception area is important as an initial gesture, the ideas remain severely under-developed and incomplete. Furthermore, the letter trails off abruptly before you can properly suggest how the reception area could be improved, meaning key bullet points from the prompt are omitted. To improve, you must ensure that all parts of the prompt are fully explored and that you write at least the minimum required length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Information and ideas are not arranged in a coherent manner throughout the text. While you attempt to use transitional markers like 'However', they are overused and misused, appearing repetitively at the start of consecutive sentences where they do not logically contrast the ideas. The paragraphing is also problematic, as the text breaks down into fragmented, incomplete thoughts rather than developing a clear overall progression. Referencing is unclear in places, such as in the sentence 'It is as similar to hear', which leaves the reader confused about the flow of information. To reach a higher level, you need to group your sentences into logical paragraphs and use cohesive devices accurately to link your ideas smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. You demonstrate some attempt to use functional work-related vocabulary, but word choice and word formation issues are frequent, such as 'feedbacks' (feedback is uncountable), 'investigate by myself', and 'single handler'. There are also awkward collocations like 'get work on daily basis'. While these errors do not completely obscure your overall meaning, they restrict the precision of your writing. To improve your lexical score, focus on using correct word forms, avoiding uncountable pluralisation, and employing more precise phrasing suitable for a professional workplace context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Your writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on basic patterns with frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. There are noticeable issues with verb forms and tenses, such as 'I hope you get my letter in well!' and 'I am personally investigate', which mix present and past or passive constructions incorrectly. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also problematic, seen in phrases like 'a staff who has single handler the front desk'. Punctuation and sentence boundaries require closer attention to prevent awkward phrasing. To progress, you should practise constructing error-free simple sentences while gradually incorporating accurate complex sentence forms.
