Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter about issues occured and solutions to cure for reception area of our company. There are several things missed which are need to be fixed to imporve a well being of our workplace in visitors.
First and foremost things is sitting area, which is cozy and dark. Other than that there were only few chairs for visitors which need to be incresed. Complaints about refreshments such as water bottles, coffee machine and newspaper or company articles are missing for welcoming area.
Reception area is a first impression of a company on visitors which make them feel welcome. Most of the deals and new offers became reality when vistiors see infrastructure and well maintained area as they physicologically think about companies reputation.
Moreover, to make it happen in reality we should put some asthectic lighting and arrange more chairs which include soft cushions on them. For their waiting time, we can introduce mineral water bottles, coffee machince, newspaper and companies achievements papers on tables.
Thanks for giving me this opportunity to do something for my company. If you need any help in future, i will bea available any time.
Your sincerely,
Bik

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify concerns about seating, lighting and missing refreshments or reading materials, explain that reception creates a first impression, and suggest practical changes. The recommendations are relevant and the purpose of the letter is clear. The explanation of importance is less fully developed, however: the claim that deals and offers become reality because visitors see the facilities is difficult to follow and would benefit from a clearer link to visitors’ confidence in the company. Some complaints are also presented as a list rather than explained in terms of what visitors specifically disliked. To strengthen the response, describe the reported problems more precisely and develop how an improved reception could affect visitors’ experience and the company’s image.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a generally clear sequence: it introduces the issue, describes complaints, explains the reception’s importance, and then gives recommendations. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, and phrases such as “First and foremost” and “Moreover” guide the reader through the points. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, though. “Other than that” does not establish a precise relationship between the seating and the limited number of chairs, while “to make it happen in reality” refers vaguely to the preceding idea. The final thanks and offer of help also feel somewhat detached from the practical suggestions. Use more precise links between each complaint and its corresponding solution, and make references explicit so the progression feels smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of task-related vocabulary, including “first impression,” “visitors,” “refreshments,” and “well maintained,” which makes the main topic clear. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “cozy” and “aesthetic lighting.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning awkward: “solutions to cure,” “things missed,” “deals … became reality,” and “companies achievements papers” are not natural expressions in this context. Spelling errors such as “imporve,” “incresed,” and “machince” also reduce control. Aim for precise workplace vocabulary and check spelling; for example, describe “reported problems” and “company information leaflets” rather than relying on literal or unclear phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “sitting area, which is cozy and dark” and a reason clause beginning “when visitors see infrastructure.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “First and foremost things is sitting area” has problems with number and sentence structure, while “which need to be increased” does not agree with “few chairs” in the surrounding construction. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “Reception area is a first impression.” The closing contains errors in “i will bea available” and “Your sincerely.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and complete sentence patterns, then proofread punctuation and capitalization.
