Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter for telling you some complaints which have been arise for regarging our reception desk by visitors.

I got to know about the reception that was previously famous by its clean and tidy space now it becomes very dirty. Visitors from diifferent countries have been visited our company for our development in technology. However, i got so many questions about our reception desk staff's nature towards them.

The reception area is significant for every company because most of the work go through with the entering desk. If we have well-mannered room, we can easily attract foreign investors as well as visitors for better opportunities with the help of proper surroundings.

We can do regular cleaning arrangements for our reception area along with proper schedule.

Moreover, I also suggest some volunteering from our company employees have been took part in it and that would be help to the company.

Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you report that the reception has become dirty and that visitors have concerns about staff behaviour, explain its role in attracting investors and visitors, and recommend regular cleaning and employee involvement. These are relevant ideas, but some are less fully developed than others. In particular, the complaints about staff are mentioned only generally, so a specific example or description of the concern would make this clearer. The improvement plan also needs more practical detail, such as assigning cleaning responsibilities or providing staff guidance. Your explanation of the reception’s importance is relevant, though the link between its appearance and business opportunities could be explained more directly. A more specific, fully developed response would strengthen the letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter follows a sensible overall order: it introduces the complaints, explains why reception matters, and then offers improvements. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and expressions such as “However” and “Moreover” signal relationships between ideas. Some connections are not fully clear, however. For example, “Moreover, I also suggest some volunteering from our company employees have been took part in it” makes it difficult to identify the proposed action and how it relates to the cleaning schedule. The opening also moves from the reception’s former condition to visitor questions without clearly linking the two complaints. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each recommendation directly to a complaint; this would make the progression more consistently easy to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for a workplace letter, including “visitors,” “foreign investors,” “regular cleaning arrangements,” and “proper surroundings.” These choices communicate the general subject and show some attempt to use less common language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “complaints which have been arise,” “famous by its clean and tidy space,” and “well-mannered room.” “Reception area” or “reception desk” would be more precise than “entering desk,” while “staff’s nature” does not clearly express concerns about staff conduct. There are also spelling and capitalization slips, including “diifferent” and lowercase “i.” Aim for natural workplace collocations and check spelling so your meaning is more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a contrast introduced by “However.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “complaints which have been arise” should use a correct passive or active form, and “most of the work go” needs subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “Moreover” combines incompatible forms in “employees have been took part,” making the recommendation harder to understand. Capitalize “I” consistently, and revise the final sentence to use a clear structure, such as “I also suggest that employees volunteer to help maintain the area.” More accurate control of these patterns would improve clarity.
