Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is undeniably true that the way of shopping has completely changed from recent years. Owing to this, a large number of people claim that customers prefer to do shopping from large shopping centres instead of local shops., which leads to shut down local market. I would strongly say it is positive development and I will articulate the viewpoints in subsequent segments along with a relevant example.
Commencing with the first and foremost why this trends become positive. The first is that due to hectic schedule more and more people try to do shopping under one roof, which saves their time. Due to this, their preference is getting higher towards the shopping centres instead of local shops. Also, they get sufficient secured space for car parking in comparison to local shops. Along with shopping from malls customer get deals and discount on the item which saves their money too.
Moving further, Malls has many brands which sell best goods in variety that helps customers to get goods according to their choice. People can find product at one place instead to visiting number of local shops. In addition, malls centre also boost the nation economy. As large shopping centres avails many services such as grocery stores, clothing outlets, jewelry, food court and entertainment system. To be more precise, after shopping customer can devote their quality time with their loved once by having some food and watching movies in cinema which put positive impact their relationship. Also, shopping centres are clean and good looking that attract the tourist it helps to boost the nation economy.
In my opinion, having number of facilities under one roof avails variety and best number of services to customer that helps to saves their time and opportunity to spend quality time with their family.
In conclusion, due to number of deals people prefer to do shopping from large shopping centre instead of small shops. Also, because of security at malls people are more safer than local market which help to keep serenity in the environment. it leads to positive trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the shift toward shopping malls is a positive development. The ideas are relevant, focusing on convenience, variety, and economic benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that malls 'boost the nation economy' is mentioned twice but lacks specific evidence or a deeper explanation of how this impacts local communities or the broader market. While the position is consistent, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The response covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis remains limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Commencing with', 'Moving further', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Owing to this' at the start of the second sentence, which does not accurately reflect the preceding clause. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'it helps to boost the nation economy' which follows a list of services without a strong logical link. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'articulate', 'subsequent', and 'serenity', though some collocations are imprecise, such as 'avails many services' or 'best number of services'. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'shut down local market' instead of 'the closure of local markets' and 'people are more safer'. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Malls has many brands'), incorrect article usage ('the nation economy'), and awkward phrasing ('which put positive impact their relationship'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with a comma splice in the first paragraph and missing articles before nouns. These errors are noticeable and occur regularly, though they do not significantly impede communication. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would improve the score.
