Student answer (Band 6.0)

Over the past few decades, the rise of trend of people shifting towards large shopping complex caused many local buinesses to shut down. I contemplate it is positive trend since it makes shopping convenient and accessible to shoppers.

One compelling argument in favor of customers like to shop at big shopping malls or plazas is that it is easier for shoppers to purchase all items under one roof as shopping malls offers all the facilities and services under single roof. For instance, buyers can purchase clothing, everyday essential items and groceries from a single store. As a result, it reduces their effort to travel to different local shops to buy different kinds of products which ultimately saves their travelling cost and time.

Another prominent benefit of this evolution is that accessibility of wider range of products to consumers. This developments allow individuals to choose from wider range of products. For instance at local shops customers would only have a choice to choose from local products however at shopping malls customers can make a choice between imported and local product and can also choose product according to their affordability. Consequently, it gives choice and options to consumers to wisely spend their money.

In conclusion, I personally believe that it is positive development as it saves time and efforts of shoppers as well as a chance to explore and to choose from many options of single product. Therefore, overall it benefits customers at greater extent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider the shift to large shopping centres positive, and the conclusion restates this view. Both supporting points are relevant: convenience from buying several types of goods in one place, and access to a wider selection of local and imported products. The examples help explain these benefits, but the discussion remains focused almost entirely on shoppers; the effects on local businesses, which are central to the prompt, are not considered. The second point also repeats the idea of having more choice without developing its wider significance. The response is 7 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the response, meet the length requirement and develop the reasoning with a specific example or a brief acknowledgement of the consequences for local shops.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate benefits, and a conclusion. The progression from convenience to product choice is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “For instance,” “As a result,” and “Consequently” help show relationships between ideas. This organisation is effective, though some connections feel formulaic, and the second body paragraph repeats the point about choice rather than extending it. References such as “This developments” are not always clear or well connected to the preceding sentence. To improve, make each paragraph build its point step by step, use pronouns and linking phrases accurately, and vary transitions rather than relying on a similar example-and-result pattern in both paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “shopping complex,” “everyday essential items,” “imported,” and “affordability.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some attempts at more formal phrasing suit an IELTS essay. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “rise of trend” is awkward, “local buinesses” is misspelled, and “a chance to explore and to choose from many options of single product” is unnatural. “Choice” and “options” are also repeated closely. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling and word forms; for example, describe a “wider selection” and explain that shoppers can “compare products and prices.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “since it makes shopping convenient” and a result clause beginning “which ultimately saves.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “shopping malls offers” should use a plural verb, while “under single roof” needs an article. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure around “the rise of trend of people shifting.” In the conclusion, “it saves time and efforts … as well as a chance” does not maintain a parallel structure. Review subject–verb agreement and article use, and build complex sentences around a clear main clause.
