Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the meeting as taking place on a flight from Riyadh to Jeddah and explain that you are seeking a finance role, so the main purpose is clear. However, the task asks you to remind the businessman when and where you met; the route is given, but there is no indication of when the journey took place. Your suitability is also only briefly asserted through your ability to provide accurate financial information and timely reports, without examples of relevant experience or skills. The response is substantially below the required minimum of 150 words, which leaves the job request and your reasons for applying underdeveloped. Add a fuller reminder of the conversation and specific evidence of your qualifications and contribution.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter follows a clear sequence: it refers to the previous meeting, states the type of role sought, and then moves to the CV and interview availability. This makes the purpose easy to follow, and the paragraph breaks help separate the main points. The linking phrase “As I am…” also connects your professional background to your request. To make the progression more complete, give each purpose point its own developed paragraph and use a closing sentence that clearly invites a response. The final paragraph currently combines the CV, interview availability, and further contact in quick succession, so the ending feels abrupt. Overall, the organisation is logical, though the short response limits the development of its progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of professional vocabulary, including “finance professional,” “financial information,” “timely reports,” and “decision making.” These choices make your intended field and potential contribution clear. Some expressions, however, are not natural or precise in this context: “in response of” and “proposed me” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically, while “hunting for the role” is too informal for a letter to a potential employer. “Ready reference” is also an awkward collocation here. Choose conventional professional phrases and use them consistently in tone. The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but more accurate collocations would make the letter sound more fluent and polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, particularly in the sentence beginning “As I am finance professional…” and the sentence describing the reports you could provide. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are present. For example, “As I am finance professional” needs an article, and “I will be available … anytime in next week” has an incorrect time expression and missing article. The sentence beginning “I have attached my CV” joins two independent clauses with only a comma; separate them or use a suitable conjunction. There is also inconsistent spacing in “I will.” Review articles, sentence boundaries, and prepositions, while retaining your attempts at longer structures.
