Dear Jake Watson,

I hope you are doing well! I am writing today to show my interest in working for one of your resturant in Toronto.

During our flight last week from Calgary if you remember we sat on adjacent seats and had little conversation of occupation we are in, I remember you mentioned you own business franchise of Burger king and have couple of it in Toronto.

I am currently looking for job, my previous experience is in retail business of more than 5 years as store manager in renowned store known by GAP. My background in education is in Management which drives my passion to efficiently run daily operational needs for our clients and manage hurdles in the way. I would be upon to take roles as Store Manager, Supply chain executive or similar one's.

With my past experience and qualification, I'm confident that i can perform the roles and responsibility which will be assigned to me with utmost attention.

I hope this message finds you well, looking forward to connect and discuss more in detail about my competency for the suitable role.

Kind regards,

Alex

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three requested points: you identify the flight from Calgary last week, express interest in a restaurant role, and explain your retail-management experience and education. The reference to sitting next to each other helps the recipient recall the meeting. Your strongest support is the claim of more than five years as a store manager; however, the suitability explanation is less fully developed. Explain how specific skills—such as staff supervision, customer service, or stock control—would transfer to restaurant work. The range of roles listed, including “Store Manager” and “Supply chain executive,” also makes your preferred position less clear. A more focused request and a specific example of relevant achievement would make the purpose more persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The information is arranged in a generally logical sequence: you open with your purpose, recall the flight, describe your background, and close by inviting further discussion. Paragraphing supports this progression, and the reader can follow the main message. Some links between ideas are less smooth, particularly in the long paragraph beginning “During our flight last week,” where the meeting reminder and details about the businessman’s restaurants are crowded together. The transition from your qualifications to the list of possible roles could also be clearer. Use shorter, more focused sentences and connect each qualification directly to the job you are seeking. The closing is appropriate, though a more direct request for a conversation or interview would give the letter a clearer endpoint.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a job enquiry, including “previous experience,” “store manager,” “daily operational needs,” and “qualification.” These choices communicate your background and interest, and some phrases show an attempt to use professional language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “business franchise,” “renowned store known by GAP,” and “manage hurdles in the way.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “resturant” and “one’s” where you mean “ones.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Prefer established workplace expressions and check spelling and possessive forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning remains understandable. The sentence beginning “My background in education is in Management which drives my passion…” shows an effort to connect related ideas, while the closing uses a suitable future-oriented expression. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “During our flight last week from Calgary if you remember we sat…” needs clearer clause punctuation and structure, and “I am currently looking for job” is missing an article. In “the roles and responsibility which will be assigned,” the plural forms do not agree. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent. Use shorter sentences where needed, and proofread articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
