Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: reminding the recipient of the meeting, stating the job interest, and explaining suitability. However, the response is under the 150-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. The tone is somewhat inconsistent; starting with 'Dear Sir/Madam' is formal, but the content lacks the professional polish expected in a business letter. The explanation of suitability is brief and could have been expanded to better persuade the reader. Because the length requirement was not met, the development of the response is incomplete, limiting the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally easy to follow, but the paragraphing is poor. The text is essentially one long block, which hinders the logical flow. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; for example, the transition between mentioning the meeting and stating the job interest is abrupt. While the sequence of information is logical, the lack of paragraph breaks and limited use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently') makes the writing feel disjointed and mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but quite basic. You rely on simple phrases like 'I am writing this letter to request' and 'I am very reliable'. There are some errors in word choice, such as 'I was boarded in the flight' (should be 'I was on flight') and 'couples of hotels' (should be 'a couple of hotels'). To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise professional terminology related to the hospitality industry and improve your control over collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense issues ('I was sat next to you' instead of 'I sat next to you') and article usage ('in profession of chef'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
