Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully reminded the recipient of the meeting, identified the desired managerial role, and provided reasons for your suitability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal business letter, although the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For example, the description of your skills could be more specific to a restaurant environment to better persuade the reader. While the task is fully addressed, the content could be more refined to sound more professional and convincing. Overall, you have met the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved; the second paragraph is a bit disjointed, and the flow between the meeting details and the job application could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the sentence structure makes the progression of ideas feel a bit repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words would help the flow of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'commendable', 'flexible', and 'enquiries'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'remind you regarding' (should be 'remind you of') and 'restaurant business' (which is slightly redundant). There are also minor errors like 'in of this post' and 'you r restaurant'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise professional terminology and ensuring correct preposition usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'You seated next to me' (should be 'You were sitting'), 'its my desire' (should be 'it is my desire'), and 'able to maintain' (missing the subject 'I am'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy would significantly improve your score.
