Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully reminded the recipient of your meeting, identified the desired role, and explained your suitability. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding your experience and skills. For instance, you mention your role as a head chef and your presentation skills multiple times in different ways. To improve, ensure each paragraph adds new information rather than restating previous points. The tone is generally appropriate for a professional letter, though the structure could be more refined to ensure a smoother flow of information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Not only this', which is positive. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Additionally, there are instances where the progression of ideas is a bit disjointed, such as the transition between your meeting on the flight and your current job description. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., ensuring pronouns clearly refer back to the correct nouns) would help the text feel more cohesive and professional.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'team leadership', 'work experience', and 'presentation skills'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'managing with work and others employees' (should be 'managing work and other employees') and 'presentation the dishes' (should be 'presenting dishes'). There are also minor spelling errors like 'chinease'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise professional terminology and ensuring that your word forms are correct in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'I hope you remembered me that we met' (should be 'I hope you remember that we met') and 'I'm I want to apply'. There are also issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for basic sentence construction errors will significantly improve your accuracy.
