Student answer (Band 9.0)

Dear Tom,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Manjinder Kaur, and we had the pleasure of meeting during our flight from Vancouver to Toronto two weeks ago. I was seated next to you, and we had an engaging conversation about your restaurant business. At the end of our discussion, you kindly suggested that I contact you if I was interested in working for one of your restaurants.

I am writing to express my interest in applying for the position of Restaurant Supervisor. I have over two years of experience supervising staff in the food service industry, where I was responsible for coordinating daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, training new employees, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. I have always enjoyed working in a fast-paced environment and leading a team to achieve outstanding results.

I believe I would be an excellent candidate for this role because I possess strong leadership and communication skills, along with the ability to remain calm under pressure. In my previous position, I successfully managed busy shifts, resolved customer concerns professionally, and helped improve overall team efficiency. Furthermore, I am a quick learner, highly adaptable, and committed to delivering exceptional service to every customer.

I have attached my résumé for your consideration. I would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss my application further at your convenience. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Manjinder Kaur
