Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly identified the context of the meeting (Toronto to Vancouver flight), specified the desired role (restaurant manager), and provided relevant justification for your suitability by highlighting your five years of experience and specific achievements. The tone is appropriate for a professional follow-up letter, and the purpose is clear from the outset. The response is well-structured and covers all requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph serves a distinct purpose, moving from the introduction and reminder of the meeting to the job interest, qualifications, and finally the call to action. Cohesive devices such as 'During our chat' and 'In my previous job' are used effectively to link ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the flow of information is natural, making the letter easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary suitable for a professional context, such as 'hospitality industry', 'business vision', and 'establishments'. While the vocabulary is generally accurate and appropriate, there are minor issues with capitalization (e.g., 'van cover' should be 'Vancouver', 'smith' should be 'Smith'). These are minor slips rather than systematic errors. To reach a higher band, you could incorporate more sophisticated collocations or nuanced professional terminology to further enhance the formal tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The letter uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most sentences are error-free, and the meaning is always clear. There are some minor grammatical slips, such as 'you kindly request me' (should be 'requested') and 'your sincerely' (should be 'yours sincerely'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and capitalization errors throughout the text. However, these errors are infrequent and do not impede communication, allowing the reader to understand your message perfectly.
