Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: reminding the businessman of the meeting, stating your interest in a job, and explaining your suitability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the first two paragraphs where you restate the circumstances of the meeting. To improve, ensure that each paragraph adds new information rather than circling back to previous points. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader understands your intent, which satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some cohesive devices such as 'furthermore' and 'in addition' to link ideas. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'To recalled you about our plane journey'. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack smooth transitions, which occasionally disrupts the progression of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'that is why') is used more naturally would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'memorable', 'extraordinary', and 'accountancy'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'fascinating in receptionist' (should be 'interested in a receptionist position') and 'cash holding' (which is not standard business terminology). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a limited control over more precise or idiomatic language. Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific professional terminology would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('you owns a chain'), tense inconsistencies ('To recalled you'), and awkward phrasing ('I will eagerly waiting'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels slightly unpolished. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent and that your sentence structures are grammatically sound, particularly when attempting more complex explanations.
