Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly identified the context of the meeting, specified your interest in a management role, and provided relevant justification for your suitability by highlighting your academic background and professional experience. The tone is appropriate for a formal business letter, and the purpose of the communication is clear throughout. To improve, ensure that you address the recipient by name if possible, or use 'Dear [Name]' if the prompt allows, though 'Dear Sir' is acceptable given the instructions. Your ideas are well-developed and directly relevant to the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph serves a distinct purpose, moving from the introduction and context to your qualifications and finally the call to action. You use some cohesive devices effectively, such as 'In addition to that' and 'I truly believe'. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. For example, the transition between your academic background and your work experience could be smoother. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'vividly remember', 'potential recruitment', and 'renowned restaurants' show a good command of language. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'role the provide me' (should be 'role that provides me') and 'in on of the' (a typo for 'in one of the'). While you use some effective vocabulary, incorporating more precise professional terminology related to the hospitality industry would elevate your score. The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the context of a job inquiry.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical slips that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'has begun' should be 'began' (past simple), 'I use to get' should be 'I used to get', and 'I am deserving candidate' requires an article ('a deserving candidate'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To reach a higher band, focus on consistent tense usage and ensuring articles and prepositions are used correctly in complex sentence constructions.
