Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Derek,
I hope you are doing well. I believe that you didn't forgot me. Still I am giving you clue that we sat next to each other on a plane to Winnipeg two weeks ago. On that occasion, you shared some details about your restaurants within Canada . Hence, I am contacting you to demonstrate my interest towards your one of the restaurants branch which is located in Winnipeg.
In addition, since I am a student of accounting field, I am keen to be part of your admin team. Also, In my prospective, I am going to best fit for this position as I know almost all the work areas which are stated under the admin positions such as appointing new staff, schedule the appointments and manage calendars, organize digital and physical files of the restaurants. On the top of that, I am working as admin clerk in the hospital. Therefore, my real life experience is going to be my one of the best strengths to secure admin position at your location.
I hope you will going to consider me for this position. I am looking forward to hearing positive response from you.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all three bullet points effectively. You clearly identify the context of the meeting, specify your interest in an administrative role, and provide relevant justification for your suitability by highlighting your accounting studies and current experience as an admin clerk. The tone is appropriate for a professional yet semi-formal business correspondence. The ideas are well-developed and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout. To improve, ensure that the connection between your current role and the specific needs of the restaurant chain is made more explicit to further strengthen your candidacy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Therefore', and 'On the top of that' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'your one of the restaurants branch', which disrupts the flow. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and natural to achieve a higher band score. The paragraphing is appropriate for the task format.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prospective', 'admin team', and 'demonstrate my interest'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'didn't forgot me' (should be 'didn't forget'), 'in my prospective' (should be 'in my opinion' or 'from my perspective'), and 'your one of the restaurants branch' (should be 'one of your restaurant branches'). These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and grammatical word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the overall quality. Examples include 'I hope you will going to consider' (should be 'I hope you will consider'), 'schedule the appointments' (should be 'scheduling appointments'), and 'I am giving you clue' (should be 'I am giving you a clue'). While these errors rarely impede the reader's understanding, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
