Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
My name is Supreet Kaur. I am writing this letter to give more detail about myself and I will attach my resume in this letter.
I would like to remind you regarding our first meet-up in the plane when we were travelling from Vancouver to Toronto. As we have discussed about my working strategy and you really like my way of working. Therefor I decide to start work in any of your restaurant.
I love to do every kind of work but I have more experience in dealing with customers and managing money along with giving food to the customers.
As you told me you need any person who have experience in handling customers. Therefore I would a perfect person for your restaurant.
I thing I will be suitable for this job because I have experience in working in the busy restaurants as I was working the international airport in Vancouver which remains busy throughout the day.
I hope you will like working me within your restaurant and I will look forward for your reply.
Yours Faithfully
Supreet Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: reminding the businessman of your meeting, stating your interest in a job, and explaining your suitability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening 'Dear Sir' is slightly generic given the context of a personal conversation. The ideas are relevant, but the development is somewhat basic. For example, your explanation of why you are suitable could be more detailed by specifically linking your airport experience to the high-pressure environment of a restaurant chain. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some cohesive devices like 'Therefore' and 'As', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the introduction to the specific request and then to your qualifications. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the connection between sentences is smoother. For instance, the transition between your experience and your suitability could be more fluid to avoid a list-like feel.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'resume', 'working strategy', and 'international airport'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'first meet-up' (better as 'initial meeting'), 'giving food to the customers' (better as 'providing table service'), and 'working me' (better as 'working with me'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit your score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise professional terminology would help you reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'As we have discussed about' (should be 'As we discussed'), 'I decide to start work' (should be 'I decided'), and 'I thing I will be' (should be 'I think'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage errors throughout. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, especially when referring to past events like your initial meeting.
