Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully reminded the recipient of the meeting context (Delhi to Punjab flight), identified the desired role (receptionist), and provided relevant reasons for your suitability (hotel management course and previous experience at Taj Hotel). The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening 'Dear Sir' is acceptable, using the person's name if known would be better. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, fulfilling the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Apart from this' and 'So, according to my experience', to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical issues, such as the repetitive use of 'I also did' and 'I think'. To reach a higher band, try to vary your transition words and ensure that the progression between sentences feels more natural rather than list-like. Overall, the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'career oriented', 'placement', and 'grateful'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'I am writing to letter' (should be 'writing a letter') and 'good conservation' (should be 'conversation'). Additionally, 'I hope you reminded me' is slightly unnatural; 'I hope you remember our meeting' would be more precise. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include 'I met you in the plane journey' (should be 'on the plane'), 'how you become a businessman' (should be 'became'), and 'I did the three year hotel management course' (missing 'a'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I') and article usage. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
