Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear John,
I hope you are doing well. I want to remind you that I am Harkanwal, we met during our flight from toronto to dubai. We sat next to each other. We had talk about the possiblity of getting a job in your resturants during our travel.
As we talked before, I am graduated from a management college and have experience working in some of the local restuarants during my college placements. I like to work with different types of nationalities and learn from different kind of fine minds. I want to get more exposure in the international restaurants chains.
Iam more inclined towards the managements roles, as I have some experience of it during my studies. Iam open to learn all the techniques that are required to deliver a satisfactory customer service. Kindly let me know if there is any position available for me, I will be very thankful in getting your response to my letter.
Yours Faithfully,
Harkanwal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully reminded the recipient of the meeting, specified your interest in management roles, and provided reasons for your suitability. The tone is generally appropriate for a professional follow-up, although the closing 'Yours Faithfully' is technically reserved for when the recipient's name is unknown (since you addressed him as 'Dear John', 'Yours Sincerely' would be more accurate). The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, fulfilling the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, moving from the initial meeting to your qualifications and finally to your request. You use basic cohesive devices like 'As we talked before' and 'I am more inclined towards' to link your thoughts. While the transitions are functional, they are somewhat simple; using a wider variety of linking words or more sophisticated referencing would help improve the flow and elevate the score further.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'exposure', 'international restaurant chains', and 'satisfactory customer service'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'resturants' (repeatedly misspelled), 'possiblity', and 'managements'. Additionally, 'fine minds' is an unusual collocation in this context. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a broader range of precise professional terminology to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I am more inclined towards the management roles, as I have some experience of it during my studies.' There are some grammatical slips, such as 'I am graduated' (should be 'I graduated') and 'We had talk' (should be 'We had a talk'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some minor issues with sentence boundaries. The errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message clearly.
