Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: you reminded the recipient of your meeting, identified the desired role, and explained your suitability. The tone is generally appropriate for a professional letter, although it leans slightly informal in places (e.g., 'How are you doing together with you family'). The ideas are relevant and clearly stated, such as your specific interest in flour-based culinary work and your twenty-five years of experience. To reach a higher band, ensure that the purpose of the letter is stated more concisely in the opening, and maintain a consistent professional tone throughout the entire piece.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction to the specific request and finally to your qualifications. Paragraphing is present, though the structure could be improved by separating the introduction, the job request, and the closing more distinctly. You use some cohesive devices like 'especially' and 'since', but the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and run-on sentences, such as in the third paragraph where multiple ideas are joined with commas. Improving the use of transition words and varying sentence length would enhance the overall flow and readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'profession', 'establishment', and 'internationally'. However, there are several instances of non-standard word choice and collocation errors, such as 'bring to your memory' (instead of 'remind you'), 'staffs' (the plural of staff is 'staff'), and 'am opportune to be offer' (which should be 'if I am given the opportunity'). These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they do indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and common professional collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('that have to do with', 'that ring a bell') and verb tense usage ('Have also gone for many competitions'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing articles ('on plane', 'as a professional') and incorrect capitalization. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit your score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
