Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: the meeting context, the job interest, and the justification for suitability. The tone is appropriate for a professional business letter. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, although the development of the 'suitability' section could be slightly more detailed to reach a higher band. For instance, explaining specific achievements during the three years of experience would have strengthened the argument. However, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader is left with no doubt about the writer's intentions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the meeting details from the job application and the closing. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'That not only makes me...' are used to link ideas, although the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. The letter maintains a consistent focus throughout, ensuring the reader understands the transition from the initial meeting to the current request for employment.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some professional terms like 'business prospects', 'academic documentation', and 'long term commitments'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'qualifiction', 'Bachelore's', and 'receing'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, the student should aim for more precise collocations and ensure accuracy in spelling. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message clearly, but it lacks the sophistication and variety required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'I have done Bachelore's' (should be 'I have a Bachelor's degree'), 'experience for the same industry' (should be 'in'), and 'looking forward for' (should be 'to'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though some phrasing is slightly awkward. While the errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Increasing the variety of complex structures and improving control over prepositions would enhance the overall quality.
