During a recent plane journey, you sat next to a businessman who owns a chain of restaurants. You talked to him and he suggested that you should contact him about a possible job in one of his restaurants.

Write a letter to this businessman. In your letter

• remind him when and where you met
• tell him what kind of job you are interested in
• say why you think you would be suitable for the job

Dear Mr. Sharma,

I am writing to remind you about our conversation during my recent flight from Mumbai to Delhi on 15 August. We were seated next to each other, and we had an interesting discussion about your restaurant business. Before we parted, you kindly suggested that I contact you regarding a possible job opportunity at one of your restaurants.

I am particularly interested in working as a restaurant supervisor. I would like to take responsibility for coordinating staff, assisting customers and ensuring that the daily operations of the restaurant run smoothly. I believe this position would also provide me with an excellent opportunity to develop my management and customer-service skills.

I believe I would be suitable for this role because I have over two years of experience in customer service and team coordination. I am confident in communicating with people, handling challenging situations and working effectively under pressure. In addition, I am organised, responsible and comfortable working as part of a team.

I would be grateful if you could let me know whether there are currently any suitable vacancies in your restaurants. I would be happy to provide my CV or attend an interview at your convenience.
