Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully reminded the recipient of the meeting context, identified the desired role, and provided reasons for your suitability. However, the tone is inconsistent; while it is a formal letter, phrases like 'never harsh you' and 'I am totally unemployed' are slightly unnatural or overly informal for a professional business context. To improve, ensure that your language remains consistently professional throughout. The ideas are relevant, but some development, such as the mention of your Google rating, feels slightly out of place in a formal job inquiry letter. Focusing more on professional achievements would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'due to this , I write this letter' is awkward. Additionally, the punctuation is inconsistent, with several instances of spaces before commas (e.g., 'me , we met'). Paragraphing is present, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'in addition to.' Improving the control of referencing and punctuation will help the text flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'chef department' and 'well cook' are non-standard. You also rely on basic descriptors like 'good' multiple times. While you attempt to use some specific terminology related to the restaurant industry, the lack of precision in word choice occasionally hinders the professional tone. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations, such as 'culinary experience' instead of 'experience in chef department,' and avoid repetitive, simple adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. Common issues include incorrect verb tenses ('you talked me if you need'), missing articles ('in aeroplane'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('I have 8 year experience'). Punctuation is also a significant issue, particularly the incorrect spacing before commas and the misuse of capitalization. While the meaning remains clear despite these errors, the frequency of mistakes prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for punctuation will significantly improve your score.
