Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: it mentions the meeting on the plane, expresses interest in the head chef position, and explains the candidate's suitability. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. The explanation of suitability is repetitive, focusing primarily on 'taste' rather than professional experience or specific skills. The tone is also inconsistent; starting with 'Respected sir' is overly formal and slightly unnatural for a business letter, while the body of the letter lacks the professional register expected in a formal job application. To improve, you should expand on your professional background and provide more specific details about your qualifications.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into a logical sequence, moving from the introduction to the request and finally the closing. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and limited. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt, such as the jump from mentioning your diplomas to stating that you make dishes with 'a lot of taste'. Paragraphing is also insufficient; the entire body of the letter is contained within one block, which makes it harder to follow. Using more varied linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' would help improve the flow and logical progression of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express your ideas with precision. For example, the word 'taste' is used multiple times in a short space, and phrases like 'all types of food' and 'good in cooking' are quite simplistic. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'I was meet you' instead of 'I met you' and 'I am interesting in' instead of 'I am interested in'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more specific professional terminology related to the culinary industry and improve your control over word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The letter contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. There are consistent issues with verb tenses and sentence structure, such as 'I was meet you' (incorrect past tense), 'you told that, l will contact you to getting' (incorrect preposition and verb form), and 'that was make with lovely taste' (incorrect passive voice). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the use of a wider range of structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage is essential for improvement.
