Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly identified the meeting context, specified the desired role, and provided relevant reasons for your suitability. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention your degree and previous experience, the explanation of how these specifically translate to the businessman's restaurant chain is a bit generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that your reasons are more directly linked to the specific needs of a restaurant business, rather than just stating your qualifications. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the opening and closing salutations need refinement to match the prompt's requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction to the meeting details, then to the job interest and qualifications. Paragraphing is present, which helps the reader navigate the text. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the frequent use of 'I' at the start of sentences makes the flow feel a bit stilted. Furthermore, some transitions between ideas are abrupt, such as the jump from your degree to your specific marketing tasks. Using a wider variety of linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition to this' would improve the overall flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'marketing officer', 'customer awareness', and 'agitated customer'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'meet well with you' instead of 'hope this letter finds you well' and 'plan a upgrading' instead of 'plan upgrades'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a limited control over more sophisticated vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are precise and natural in a professional context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'I hope this letter meet well', 'We meet at Asaba', 'i major in marketing'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing capital letters for the pronoun 'I'. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic proofreading for tense consistency and capitalization would significantly improve your accuracy.
