Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mr. Smith,
I hope you are doing well. We had an interaction last week in the Plaza Premium Lounge at Delhi International Airport. As you told me to contact you, if I am interested in working with you.
I researched on your business and found that you have multiple waffle shops in my state and they all are doing well. As I have been in marketing for last 5 years and running my own AI-based marketing agency. I can clearly notice that you need a strong marketing strategy to boost your business in terms of presence and sales.
I would love to work with you as a 'Marketing Manager' because my skills in this field could be helpful for you. We can use social media ads and influencer marketing to boost your business. I also have an idea of making a smartphone application for your business where customers can collect points, make orders and reserve tables. I also have few more plans for your business.
Thank you for giving me a chance to work with such a prestigious business. I hope to hear back from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Rajveer Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly identified the meeting context (Plaza Premium Lounge, Delhi Airport), specified the desired role (Marketing Manager), and provided a strong justification for your suitability by referencing your professional background in AI-based marketing. The tone is appropriate for a formal business letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your sentences are complete; for example, the sentence 'As you told me to contact you, if I am interested in working with you' is a sentence fragment and should be connected to the previous thought to fully develop the idea.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction to the proposal and finally the closing. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the meeting context from the job proposal and specific ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures rather than linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly. For instance, using transitions like 'Furthermore' or 'Consequently' would improve the flow between your marketing experience and your specific suggestions for the restaurant chain.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using industry-relevant terms such as 'marketing strategy', 'influencer marketing', and 'AI-based'. There are no significant errors that impede communication. However, the vocabulary is somewhat functional and lacks the sophistication or 'less common' items that would push the score into the 7.5+ range. Phrases like 'doing well' or 'have an idea' are acceptable but could be replaced with more precise, professional alternatives to demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are recurring grammatical issues. Specifically, there are punctuation errors and sentence fragments, such as 'As I have been in marketing for last 5 years and running my own AI-based marketing agency.' This is a dependent clause that should be joined to the following sentence. Additionally, there are minor errors with articles (e.g., 'the last 5 years') and prepositions. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to limit the score.
