Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mr. Smith,
I hope you are doing well. We had an interaction last week in the Plaza Premium Lounge at Delhi International Airport. Even though we had our seats togeather. As you told me to contact you, if I am interested in working with you. I'm interested to work in.
I researched on your business and found that you have multiple waffle shops in my state and they all are doing well. As I have been in marketing for last 5 years and running my own AI-based marketing agency. I can clearly notice that you need a strong marketing strategy to boost your business in terms of presence and sales.
I would love to work with you as a 'Marketing Manager' because my skills in this field could be helpful for you. We can use social media ads and influencer marketing to boost your business. I also have an idea of making a smartphone application for your business where customers can collect points, make orders and reserve tables. I also have a few more plans for your business.
Thank you for giving me a chance to work with such a prestigious business. I hope to hear back from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Rajveer Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly identified the meeting context, specified your interest in a marketing role, and provided a logical justification for your suitability based on your professional background. The tone is appropriate for a formal business letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your sentences are complete; for example, the phrase 'I'm interested to work in' is incomplete and lacks an object. Additionally, while your ideas are relevant, expanding slightly more on how your specific experience directly translates to the restaurant industry would further strengthen the development of your response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the initial meeting to your proposal and finally to your specific ideas. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the introduction, the body of your proposal, and the conclusion. However, some cohesive devices are used in a slightly mechanical way, and there are minor issues with sentence connectivity, such as the fragmented sentence starting with 'Even though we had our seats togeather.' Improving the flow between sentences by using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall readability and cohesion of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using professional terms like 'marketing strategy,' 'influencer marketing,' and 'prestigious.' There are some minor errors, such as the spelling of 'togeather' (together) and the slightly awkward phrasing 'I have been in marketing for last 5 years.' While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Incorporating more varied collocations and ensuring accurate word choice would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as the sentence fragment 'Even though we had our seats togeather' and the missing object in 'I'm interested to work in.' Additionally, there is a minor error with articles, such as 'making a smartphone application.' While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your intent, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on sentence completeness and article usage will improve your accuracy.
