Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly identified the context of the meeting, specified the role you are interested in, and provided relevant professional experience to justify your suitability. The tone is appropriate for a formal business letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could elaborate on how your specific skills would benefit the restaurant chain. Overall, the task is fully covered, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure, with clear paragraphing that separates the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Therefore', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor punctuation errors, such as comma splices in the third paragraph (e.g., '...suitable for it, I have...'). Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that sentences are correctly punctuated would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using professional terms like 'conflict-resolution' and 'background in this field'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'recentely', 'confilct-resolution', and 'sinerecly'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede the reader's understanding of your message. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations related to the hospitality industry to demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. While the meaning is generally clear, there are recurring grammatical issues. For example, you have comma splices where two independent clauses are joined by only a comma. Additionally, there are minor errors in article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'in my personal phone' instead of 'on my personal phone'. While these errors do not prevent communication, they indicate a need for more careful attention to sentence boundaries and grammatical precision.
