Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly identify the context of the meeting, specify the desired role (assistant manager), and provide relevant reasons for your suitability, such as your background in customer service and your personal attributes. The tone is generally appropriate for a business-related letter. To improve, ensure that the purpose of the letter is stated more concisely in the opening. While all parts are covered, the development of your suitability could be slightly more detailed to fully demonstrate your professional value to the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use basic paragraphing to separate your introduction, body, and closing. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally mechanical. For example, the transition between sentences could be smoother; phrases like 'I also enjoy' and 'I believe' are functional but repetitive. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'this role') is consistently clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'customer service management' and 'staff coordination'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'opportunitiy', 'restaurent', 'belive', 'resposible', 'eagar', and 'avialable'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. While the meaning remains clear, the lack of precision in spelling and occasional word choice issues (e.g., 'enjoy to dealing with') prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for common spelling patterns will significantly improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms ('i meet you', 'i would keen to take', 'enjoy to dealing') and punctuation/capitalization (e.g., 'my name is Pawan, i meet you'). The misuse of articles and subject-verb agreement issues occur throughout the letter. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that you use the correct tense when referring to past events.
