Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully identified the context of the meeting (train journey on 2nd October), specified the role you are interested in, and provided reasons for your suitability. However, the tone is occasionally inconsistent; for instance, the phrase 'myself Rakesh I think so you remember me still' is overly informal and slightly confusing. To improve, ensure the tone remains professional throughout a formal business letter. The ideas are relevant, but the development of your suitability could be more persuasive by focusing more on specific skills rather than general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each addressing a specific part of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover' and 'As I had shared', to link ideas. However, the flow is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and sentence structure, such as in the first paragraph where the connection between the meeting and the job vacancy is a bit clunky. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly mechanical rather than natural. Improving the transition between sentences would enhance the overall readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'vacancy', 'practical experience', and 'cuisine'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that detract from the professional tone. For example, you use 'chief' instead of 'chef', and 'on site campus' is an awkward collocation in this context. Additionally, 'delighted me with a chance' is grammatically incorrect and unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise professional terminology and ensuring that your word choices are appropriate for a formal business correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('that you had suggested me'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction ('I am writing with regards to remind you'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure often feels repetitive or disjointed. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
