Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Arsh,
I hope this email finds you well. I am Amrit the guy who helped your mother in the British airbus to find the seat at that moment we met. I hope you are doing good. As per of discussion I am writing email regarding job at your restaurant.
Commencing with the interest, as you told me that your restaurant located in the city Vancouver. The good thing is that my university is also there. I am looking job in the Vancouver because it would be convenient for me to manage both job and study. I am looking for the associate or senior sales associate position as per of my experiences I find myself suitable in these position.
Moving further, as I am working at 7eleven store and I have 2 year customer services experiences along with the divergent certificates such as first aid, food court, security. Due to this I think I am suitable for these positions.
I am attaching my resume and I am able to do graveyard shifts and for the day I am available on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Thank you for considering my application and I look forward for your response.
Best
Amrit

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the prompt. You appropriately reminded Arsh of when and where you met by mentioning helping his mother find her seat on a British Airbus. You clearly stated the type of job you are interested in, specifically mentioning an associate or senior sales associate position, and explained why you are suitable by highlighting your customer service experience at a 7-Eleven store and relevant certifications such as first aid and food safety. The tone is appropriately semi-formal for a professional correspondence. All parts of the task are addressed with relevant ideas, earning this section a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a clear overall structure with an appropriate opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate different points, such as meeting details, job preferences, work experience, and availability. However, transitions between sentences and paragraphs sometimes feel a bit mechanical or abrupt, using phrases like 'Commencing with the interest' and 'Moving further,' which sound slightly unnatural. Referencing is generally clear, but occasional clunky cohesive devices prevent the text from reaching a higher band. Overall, the logical progression is maintained and information is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a general workplace application, using terms like 'convenient,' 'customer services experiences,' and 'availability.' However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'As per of discussion' instead of 'As discussed,' 'looking job' instead of 'looking for a job,' and 'divergent certificates' instead of 'diverse certificates.' Spelling is generally accurate, but some vocabulary choices lack the precision and natural flexibility expected at higher band levels. Communication is never impeded, but vocabulary control remains at a competent intermediate level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses and conditional ideas. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('looking job in the Vancouver'), incorrect prepositions ('at that moment we met' and 'suitable in these position'), and tense or structural slips ('I look forward for your response'). Despite these persistent errors, your meaning remains clear, and the sentences are generally easy to parse. This performance aligns well with the descriptors for Band 6.
