Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: reminding the recipient of when and where they met ('plane journey with work in unique restaurants'), expressing interest in a job ('possible job in one of his restaurants'), and giving reasons for suitability ('I am great for the cooking and masterpiece for the delicious making dishes'). However, the development of these ideas is limited and the tone is frequently inappropriate for a semi-formal business letter, starting with an informal and grammatically incorrect opening ('Hello sir, Hope are you doing well'). Furthermore, some sentences are confusing and obscure the message, such as 'I think own restaurant is a good property for the content.' Despite these shortcomings, the purpose of the letter remains discernible. This places the performance firmly at Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The letter lacks logical organisation and clear progression. While paragraph breaks are attempted, they often divide single thoughts awkwardly or group disparate ideas together. Cohesive devices are used minimally and frequently incorrectly, such as the abrupt transitions ('So , I am a good for the chef' and 'In you has multiple location restaurants'). Referencing is also confusing at times, creating a disjointed reading experience. The lack of proper linking phrases and control over discourse markers prevents the ideas from flowing smoothly. These features are characteristic of Band 4, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently enough to ensure smooth progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and often unnatural. The student relies heavily on simple words and produces frequent lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'delicious making dishes', 'masterpiece for the delicious making dishes', and 'financial condition for own restaurant'. There are also incorrect word forms like 'carrier' instead of 'career' and 'wards' instead of 'words'. The range of vocabulary is strictly limited and inadequate for discussing professional employment needs effectively, resulting in frequent strain for the reader. This performance aligns with the Band 4 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The student demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex or compound structures that are heavily flawed (e.g., 'Hope are you doing well', 'In you has multiple location restaurants'). Basic grammatical rules are frequently broken, including subject-verb agreement, verb tenses ('as I was child, I am making a some dishes'), and prepositions ('reach at your location'). Errors are pervasive and occasionally distort the intended meaning, causing significant difficulty for the reader. This corresponds to a Band 4 performance.
