Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task satisfactorily. You successfully remind the businessman about when and where you met by mentioning a recent plane journey and discussing food restaurants. You clearly state your interest in a customer attendant position and explain why you would be suitable by highlighting your professional degree in hotel management and your prior experience in customer service. The bullet points from the prompt are fully integrated and developed throughout the letter. The tone is appropriately professional and polite for a job inquiry. Although there are some minor awkward expressions like 'request about a job in your one of the fine restaurants', the core communicative purpose of the task is successfully achieved. Based on these strengths, this response earns a solid band score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a clear overall progression and coherent structure. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the introduction, body details regarding qualifications, and the closing remarks. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'since' are utilized to connect ideas logically. However, referencing is occasionally slightly clumsy, as seen in phrases like 'your one of the fine restaurants' and 'a such job'. Additionally, some transitions feel somewhat mechanical. Despite these minor lapses in cohesion, the logical organization is clear throughout, and the reader can easily follow the sequence of ideas from the meeting reminder to the job application details, supporting a clear band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items related to hospitality such as 'hotel management', 'customer service', and 'professional degree'. However, there are notable word choice errors and typos throughout the response, such as 'restuarants', 'an productive environment', and 'experince'. Phrases like 'get in customer attendant postion' also show awkward collocation. While these errors do not impede communication since the reader can easily understand your meaning, they prevent the lexical score from reaching higher bands. Improving proofreading for basic spelling and collocation accuracy will significantly boost your lexical performance in future tasks.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at structures with participial phrases, such as 'Having a professional degree in the hotel management...'. There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing choices, including 'request about a job in your one of the fine restaurants', 'an productive environment', and 'It would be great to get in customer attendant postion'. Punctuation and capitalization errors also occur, such as a missing space after a full stop before 'I have attached'. Nevertheless, the meaning remains clear and communication is not impeded by these issues. The command of grammar is sufficient to meet the descriptors for a band 6.0.
