Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by reminding the recipient of the meeting on the flight, stating the job of interest, and explaining suitability due to previous experience. However, some ideas are under-developed, such as the vague mention of experience without specific details about the previous restaurant role. Furthermore, important note: this response contains only 140 words, which means the minimum length requirement of 150 words was NOT met, resulting in a direct penalty to your score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical sequence from the initial greeting and reminder to the job inquiry and closing. Paragraphing is attempted, though formatting and paragraph breaks are somewhat unconventional. Cohesive devices are occasionally mechanical or basic, such as using 'Well,' and 'So,' to transition between sentences. Referencing is mostly clear, but the flow would be enhanced with a wider and more natural variety of linking words to connect your personal background to your professional ambitions more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'resturents', 'compeleted', 'chef maneger', 'pession', and 'experence', which cause some distraction for the reader. While you attempt some less common terminology relevant to the hospitality industry, inaccurate word forms and spelling mistakes prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher level. More careful proofreading of common professional terms is strongly recommended.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammar demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with occasional attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in tense usage, capitalization, and punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods ('month. We', 'sitting', 'Now a days', 'i move', 'wants to starts'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage also show persistent inaccuracies, for instance saying 'look for job' without an article. These frequent errors require the reader to decode the meaning at times.
