Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all the required parts of the task. You clearly remind the reader of when and where you met, specifically mentioning the flight from Mumbai to Toronto on 29th September 2026. You also identify the specific job you are interested in, which is the bartender position at Chucks House in Hamilton Ontario, and you explain why you are suitable by detailing your two years of experience at a Mexican Grill and Bar Restaurant. However, some ideas are extended further than necessary, such as the detailed anecdote about creating a specific signature drink named "440 volts", which leads to a slight over-generalisation of its fame. To reach a higher level, the ideas could be balanced more concisely to maintain a clear business tone throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression from the initial greeting and reminder of your meeting to your job interest and qualifications. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate your introduction and purpose from your specific qualifications and cocktail creation experience. However, cohesion is sometimes slightly mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences in the second paragraph where conjunctions are missing or referencing is unclear. For instance, starting sentences with "I have prepared drink..." rather than smooth linking devices affects the overall flow. Improving the use of cohesive devices and referencing will help connect your ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, successfully conveying your meaning and intent. You attempt some less common vocabulary related to the hospitality industry, such as "smart serve license" and "signature drink". However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that prevent a higher score, such as writing "vacany" instead of vacancy, "Ontarion" instead of Ontario, and "varieties of cocktail drinks" which sounds slightly unnatural. Additionally, phrases like "comes across that there is a vacancy" lack precision. To improve, you should focus on more accurate word choices, correct spelling of proper nouns and common terms, and the use of natural collocations typical of professional correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the letter, attempting complex structures when describing your experience and cocktail recipes. There are some errors in grammar, articles, and punctuation that recur, such as missing articles ("an experience of working as Bartender" instead of *as a bartender*), incorrect verb tenses or forms ("which valid for 2years" instead of *which is valid*), and comma splices in compound sentences. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and the reader can easily follow your meaning. To achieve a higher band, you should increase the proportion of error-free sentences by paying closer attention to article use, subject-verb agreement, and accurate punctuation in complex clauses.
