Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You attempt to cover all three points: you refer to meeting on “Tuesday 23 October in city hall,” express interest in an accountant role, and give reasons such as your postgraduate study and communication skills. However, the meeting reminder is unclear because you do not mention the plane journey or explain that the businessman owns the restaurant chain. Your job preference is also confusing: you first discuss cooking and working as a chef, then say you want to be an accountant, without clarifying whether you are applying for one role or both. The suitability reasons are relevant but briefly listed rather than explained. Make the context of your meeting explicit and develop one clear job preference with supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The letter follows a basic sequence from explaining why you are writing to describing your qualifications and requesting a response. However, the ideas are crowded into one long paragraph, and the progression is difficult to follow. For example, “i love cooking” and your cooking qualification lead into the meeting details, before the letter shifts to an accountant role and then back to chef work. Connectors such as “Actually,” “In addition,” and “as a result” do not always show the relationship between ideas clearly. Use separate paragraphs for the meeting and purpose, your preferred role and suitability, and your closing request. Clearer transitions would make the message easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for employment and qualifications, including “accountant,” “chef,” “recipes,” “communication,” and “problem solving.” This gives the reader a general understanding of your interests and strengths. However, several word choices and combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “huge interest to enroll this job,” “hire here as a accountant,” and “adjust their environment.” These errors sometimes make your intended meaning less clear, particularly when describing the role you want. Aim for standard professional expressions and check spelling and word forms, including “because,” “meet,” and “soon as possible.” A more precise range of job-related language would make the letter sound more appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses and linking expressions, as in “I think I am suitable for that job because…” and “I know number of recipes… as a result…”. However, sentence structures are limited and many sentences contain errors that can make the message difficult to understand. Examples include “i am writing about the join your restaurant,” “i decide to met,” and “i done my Post graduation.” These show problems with verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, and some sentences run together without clear boundaries. Practise accurate past-tense forms for the meeting and qualifications, and use shorter, correctly punctuated sentences before attempting longer ones.
