Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mr. John,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to get a job in one of your restaurant.
I would like to remind you regarding our past meeting. We met during travelling in Air India flight on 16 September 2026. You told me that he has vacancy at one of his restaurant which is suitable for me.
I am interested in administrative work because I have done my Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Toronto. If you have any other work related to my field then it would be grate.
I think I am suitable for this position because I have a wide range of knowledge regarding accounting. Along with that, I have a good communication skills. Moreover, I have a better convincing power. I have a one year of intership experience in this field.
Thank you for your cooperation. I am looking forward to your response. Please request you to consider my application.
Yours sincerely,
Shubham Savaliya

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three required points: it recalls meeting on an Air India flight on 16 September, identifies administrative work as the preferred role, and gives relevant reasons for suitability, including a business degree, accounting knowledge, communication skills, and internship experience. The purpose is clear and the tone is generally appropriate. However, some details are less fully developed: the meeting is not located beyond the flight, and the writer does not explain how the listed skills or internship would help in a restaurant role. The reference to a vacancy also slightly shifts the task from following up on the businessman’s invitation to making a general application. Add a specific connection between your experience and the restaurant’s needs to make the case more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a sensible sequence: opening purpose, reminder of the meeting, preferred work, reasons for suitability, and closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the letter, and linking expressions such as “Along with that” and “Moreover” make the supporting points easy to identify. This gives the response a coherent overall structure. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, however. “You told me that he has vacancy” makes the reference to the businessman confusing, while “If you have any other work related to my field” is not smoothly connected to the request for administrative work. Use clearer reference and transitions that show how each qualification supports the specific role.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main purpose and includes relevant terms such as “administrative work,” “accounting,” “communication skills,” and “internship experience.” These choices show some awareness of the employment context. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce naturalness: “regarding our past meeting,” “better convincing power,” “cooperation,” and “intership” are not well suited to this letter. “One of your restaurant” also reflects an inaccurate word form. Aim for conventional professional expressions and precise descriptions of your strengths, such as explaining that you can communicate effectively with customers or support administrative tasks. This would make the message sound more fluent and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses mostly straightforward sentences and includes some longer structures, for example, “I think I am suitable for this position because…” and “If you have any other work related to my field…”. The intended meaning is generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, pronouns, and sentence patterns remain noticeable. Examples include “one of your restaurant,” “he has vacancy,” “I have a good communication skills,” and “I have a one year of…”; the final request, “Please request you to consider my application,” is also not grammatically formed. Review singular and plural agreement, article use, and indirect requests. More accurate control of these patterns, alongside a wider range of correctly formed sentences, would strengthen the letter.
