Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You make a relevant attempt to cover the three requested points: you refer to meeting on a plane last week, express interest in kitchen work or another available role, and begin to explain your suitability through your hotel and restaurant management studies. However, the response is incomplete: the final sentence stops at “I had a lot of expiri…”, so your reasons for being suitable are not developed, and the reader does not receive a complete letter. The meeting details are also vague, and the job preference could be more specific. The response is 30 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to address the points fully. Add a clear closing and explain relevant experience or skills.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The ideas are grouped into separate paragraphs, and sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “To be honest” give the reader some indication of movement between points. However, the overall progression is not fully clear: the opening repeats the idea of a possible job, and the second paragraph combines the meeting, conversation, and vacancy information in one long sentence. “Firstly” also suggests a sequence that is not continued. The final paragraph ends abruptly, leaving the letter without a completed conclusion or sign-off. Use one paragraph for each task point, connect ideas with simple, accurate links, and finish with a polite closing. This would make the organisation easier to follow and reduce the current repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the situation, including “vacant position,” “culinary school,” and “suitable,” so the reader can identify the topic and your intended job area. However, the range is limited, and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand: “greduate,” “availabe,” and “expiri” are unclear, while “job possible job” is repetitive. “I am confidence” also shows an inaccurate word choice and form. Choose precise phrases for your qualification and experience, and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe yourself as a “hospitality management graduate” and refer to “relevant experience” rather than leaving the final point unfinished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “I am writing…” and the sentence beginning “Firstly, we just meet…”. However, the longer constructions are often faulty, and errors can make the relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “we just meet” instead of a past-tense form, “we sat to each other,” and “I’m willing to worked.” There are also problems with sentence boundaries and capitalisation, such as the lower-case “and” after a full stop and unnecessary capitals within sentences. The final sentence is incomplete, so it cannot show controlled sentence structure. Use shorter sentences where needed, maintain past tense for the journey, and check verb forms and punctuation before submitting.
