Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three required points: you identify the flight from Toronto to Calgary and its date, state your interest in customer service or restaurant supervision, and explain your suitability through communication, people skills, business education, and reliability. The purpose is clear and the tone is appropriately polite. Your reasons are relevant, though they remain somewhat general; for example, you mention experience with people from different backgrounds but do not give a brief example of that experience or explain how your business studies would help in a restaurant role. Adding one specific achievement or practical example would make the case more fully developed and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression: it recalls the meeting, describes the roles sought, presents relevant strengths, and closes with a request for information. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and phrases such as “In addition” and “I would appreciate” help connect and signal ideas. The overall organisation is easy to follow. Some links within sentences are less smooth, particularly “I was sitting next to you during our conversation, I came to know…,” where two ideas are joined without a clear grammatical connection. A more direct transition between the meeting and the job enquiry, and cleaner sentence boundaries, would make the cohesion more consistently natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a suitable range of job-related and professional vocabulary, including “customer service,” “flexible,” “problem-solving,” “teamwork,” and “vacancies.” These choices communicate your intentions clearly and maintain an appropriate tone. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “converstaion,” “opportunties,” “supervisior,” “communciation,” and “appericate.” Some expressions are also less natural, such as “have an opportunity working” and “strong communication skill.” These issues show that your vocabulary is adequate for the task but not yet consistently controlled. Proofreading spelling and learning common collocations for job applications would improve precision and fluency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the sentence beginning “I believe I would be a suitable candidate as…” and the addition of supporting details with “In addition.” The message remains understandable, and errors generally do not prevent the reader from following it. Some grammatical problems are present, however: “It was pleasure meeting” needs an article and a different construction, “you owns” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “I would be happy provide” is missing “to.” The opening also joins two complete ideas with a comma. Review articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at longer sentences.
