Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you identify the Toronto–Ottawa journey and meeting place, state your interest in manager or assistant-manager work, and give relevant reasons for your suitability, including three years of experience and a business-management qualification. These details make the letter purposeful. Some points are less fully developed, however: the job preference is presented as two options rather than a clear first choice, and your experience is described generally without examples of responsibilities or achievements that demonstrate your management ability. The reference to a newly opened restaurant is also slightly unclear alongside your mention of its opening. A more specific account of your skills and a direct request for a meeting or next steps would make the purpose more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it opens by explaining why you are writing, then recalls the meeting, describes the roles you are seeking, and ends with your qualifications and a request for consideration. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages. Some connections are less smooth or precise, particularly the shift from recalling the restaurant opening to saying you are “in the market for” two roles. The final paragraph also combines your work history, education, and request without clearly showing how each supports your suitability. Use clearer linking phrases and organise the evidence into a more deliberate progression—for example, experience first, then relevant education, followed by a specific next step. The all-capital presentation also makes the letter less easy to read.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “management experience,” “business management,” “candidate,” and “positions,” so the reader can understand your purpose. There is some range, but several word-choice and collocation problems make the expression less natural: “sat at the fine Italian lounge” does not clearly describe meeting at a lounge, “in the market for” is awkward for expressing your job interest, and “newly opened restaurant” is repeated. Spelling errors such as “WRITNG,” “REMEBER,” and “POSSIBLE” are noticeable, while “restaurant” is also misspelled in the opening. Aim for accurate, conventional phrases and proofread carefully; more precise language about your duties and skills would also help you present your suitability convincingly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, such as the sentence linking your earlier kitchen-helper role to later responsibilities. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “from the last week's journey” has an awkward possessive construction, “we both set” uses the wrong verb form, and “I happen to be” does not fit the past-time context of the meeting. In “I would really appreciate it if I am given,” the conditional structure would be more accurate with a past-form verb after “if.” There are also missing or incorrect articles and prepositions in phrases such as “at one of your newly opened restaurant.” Review past-tense narration, conditional forms, and article use, then check sentence punctuation.
