Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You make a relevant attempt to explain your interest in work and give useful background, including your BBA studies and current role as an operations leader. However, the task is only partly addressed: you do not clearly identify a job in one of his restaurants, instead focusing on supply-chain work and asking him to help you find a suitable job. The meeting details are also vague: “on a recent plane journey” does not specify where or when you met, and “on the last week” is unclear. Your suitability is suggested through your studies and experience but not explained with specific skills or achievements. State the restaurant role you want, clarify the journey details, and connect your experience directly to that role.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable structure, with an opening, two body paragraphs and a polite closing. The ideas generally move from the meeting to your background and then to a request for help. However, the progression is not always clear: the first paragraph shifts from recalling the flight to discussing business, while the second introduces supply-chain work without clearly linking it to a job in the restaurants. Connect each paragraph more directly to one purpose in the task. Some linking phrases, such as “To begin with” and “Apart from this,” feel mechanical or do not show the relationship between ideas precisely. Clearer transitions and more direct references to the businessman and the opportunity would make the letter easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “supply chain management,” “operation leader,” “suppliers” and “buyers,” which helps communicate your background. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making parts of the letter awkward or unclear. For example, “The enjoying flight” and “gathering knowledge about business market” do not express your meaning naturally, while “facilitate me” is not an appropriate way to ask for help with a job. There are also spelling and form errors such as “woild.” Aim for precise, natural phrases suited to a professional letter, and use vocabulary that describes your relevant skills rather than repeating general references to supply-chain work.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentence forms, including “I am not only sending this letter … but also to share my background” and the sentence beginning “Hence,” but these structures are often faulty. Errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles and agreement occur frequently and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “I am writing this letter to remind of me who met” does not form a clear grammatical sentence, and “suppliers and buyers who has” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. There are also problems with capitalization and punctuation, such as lowercase “i” and missing spaces after full stops. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences while checking that each clause has a clear subject and verb.
