Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you identify the flight and date, express interest in a restaurant job, and give relevant reasons for your suitability, including a management degree, work experience, communication skills, and English and French. The letter is clearly directed to the businessman and maintains a suitably polite purpose. However, the job you want is not specified precisely: “a job opportunity” does not tell him whether you are seeking a management, customer-service, or other role. Your experience is also listed broadly rather than linked to particular duties or achievements. Clarifying the position and briefly showing how your background prepares you for it would make the response more complete and developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The information follows a sensible sequence: you recall the meeting, explain the job discussion, present your qualifications, and close with a request. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these stages, and links such as “During our conversation” and “I can also” make relationships between ideas clear. This gives the letter coherent overall organisation and some effective progression. At times, however, the long sentence about communication skills, retaining customers, referrals, and attracting new customers carries several ideas at once. Breaking it into shorter sentences and grouping your experience separately from your customer-service strengths would make the progression smoother and the connections less crowded.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a sufficient range of vocabulary for the purpose, including relevant terms such as “management,” “communication skills,” “retain,” and “referrals.” These help explain your qualifications and potential contribution. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “write to the management” when addressing the owner, “public places” for your previous workplaces, and “verse experience” for your experience. “5 star restaurant” is understandable but could be expressed more naturally as “five-star restaurant.” These slips do not prevent the reader from understanding your main message, but more precise workplace and employment vocabulary would make the letter sound more professional and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message remains understandable. However, errors occur in verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation. For example, “you as me” should be “you asked me,” while “I have work in several public places” needs a corrected verb form, such as “I have worked in several settings.” The opening sentence is also a run-on, and “at exactly 10:am Friday 23 October 2026” needs clearer grammatical phrasing and punctuation. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “i” and “All.” Review past-tense forms, sentence boundaries, and basic punctuation; these corrections would improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at longer structures.
